The Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN) conducts multidisciplinary research in the area of intellectual disability and mental health. Our mission is to improve mental health policy and practice for people with an intellectual or developmental disability through translational research.

  • Health and wellbeing in people with autism 

  • Cardiometabolic health for people with an intellectual disability

  • Improving mental health outcomes for people with an intellectual and/or developmental disability: linkage and interrogation of datasets to examine health profiles and service use patterns

  • Improving mental health outcomes for people with an intellectual and/or developmental disability: policy analysis to determine the representation of people with an intellectual disability/developmental disability and to establish strategies which will enhance mental health policy

  • Improving mental health outcomes for people with an intellectual and/or developmental disability: stakeholder engagement to inform improved recognition of mental ill health and accessibility of mental health services 

  • Delivery of primary health care to people with an intellectual and/or developmental disability

  • Development of core competencies for mental health service staff providing services to people with an intellectual disability

  • Training and teaching initiatives in intellectual disability mental health

  • Intellectual disability mental health e-learning

  • Thinking and motor skills in permutation carriers of fragile X

  • Successful ageing for people with an intellectual disability
