Bridging the gap: from evidence to improved health for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities

The IASSIDD Health SIRG will be holding a conference in Belfast, N Ireland on the 19th-20th June 2017 at the Hilton Hotel. The theme of the event is “Bridging the gap: from evidence to improved health for persons with IDD”. An international planning group has been working to organize the conference which will feature keynote addresses by Bev Temple (CANADA) and Roy McConkey (N. IRELAND).

The conference focusses on the following 6 themes:

  1. obesity led by Tessa Hilgenkamp (The NETHERLANDS)
  2. mental health co-led by Angela Hassiotis (UK) and Sally Ann Cooper (SCOTLAND)
  3. frailty and aging led by Hélène Ouellette-Kuntz (CANADA)
  4. mortality co-led by Emily Lauer (USA) and Pauline Heslop (UK)
  5. access to healthcare/primary care guidelines co-led by Matt Hoghton (UK) and Esther Bakker (The NETHERLANDS)
  6. health promotion and healthy environments co-led by Jenneken Naaldenberg (The NETHERLANDS) and Lisa O’Leary (SCOTLAND)
