Improving palliative care for people with intellectual disability

We recently received funding to design, implement, and evaluate a new palliative care service for people with intellectual disability. This is important because people with intellectual disability often find it hard to access palliative care tailored to their needs.

The team would like to hear from people with an intellectual disability, their support networks, and health professionals.

Their experiences will be used to help us design a new model of palliative care which will be tested in 2022 in the South Western Sydney Local Health District.

To talk to a member of our research team about attending an interview or focus group (face-to-face or via email, telephone or video conferencing) please contact our Project Officer, Sara Elsie Walker at IDPalliativeCare@unsw.edu.au or (02) 9065 7786, to register your interest.

People who are supporters and health professionals also have an opportunity to participate in an online survey.
