A recent study using data from the Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health program found significant differences in the consultations, problems identified, and their management for people with an intellectual disability compared to the general population. This study found an under management of health conditions common for people with an intellectual disability, also that administrative rather than medically related actions dominated their clinical treatments. People with an intellectual disability also received fewer procedural treatments, referrals to specialists, and medications. This study calls for GPs to receive additional support to identify and manage common medical conditions. Find our more here http://goo.gl/Hqed70
