Volunteers needed – improving palliative care for people with intellectual disability

We're looking for volunteers to test and give feedback about resources for tailoring palliative care for people with intellectual disability.

| 05 Mar 2024

Researchers at 3DN have launched a pilot study to test and evaluate new information resources to support the tailoring of palliative care for people with intellectual disability. The resources are for people with intellectual disability, their supporters and health professionals.

This project is important because people with intellectual disability are often unable to access palliative care tailored to their needs.

The research team is looking for volunteers to test and give feedback on the resources, including:

  • People with intellectual disability (aged 18 years and older) who are accessing palliative care services in South Western Sydney and South Eastern Sydney Local Health Districts, and

  • Paid and unpaid supporters (aged 18 years and older) of people with intellectual disability who are accessing palliative care services in South Western Sydney and South Eastern Sydney Local Health Districts.

Findings from this project will inform the development of a national Toolkit to support tailoring of palliative care for people with intellectual disability.
